In the past, the different DIN standards had repeatedly caused problems in procurement.<\/p>\n

The introduction of this DIN standard now sets a uniform standard that defines minimum requirements for laboratory refrigerators and laboratory freezers for the storage of samples and medicinal products in laboratories or research.<\/p>\n

The new DIN 13227 applies to:<\/h2>\n

Refrigerated and frozen storage appliances equipped with a refrigeration device and operated for the following storage applications:<\/p>\n

a) Blood bank refrigerators<\/h2>\n

Blood storage refrigerators for the storage of refrigerated blood (blood and blood component preparations) for transfusion purposes in a set point temperature range of 4 \u00b0C;<\/p>\n

(b) Laboratory\/medical refrigerators<\/h2>\n

Refrigerators for medicinal products and laboratory use for the storage of medicinal products requiring refrigeration, vaccines or products for laboratory use in a setpoint temperature range of +2 \u00b0C to +16 \u00b0C;<\/p>\n

(c) Laboratory freezers<\/h2>\n

Freezers for laboratory use for the storage of frozen vaccines or products for laboratory use in a set point temperature range of -45 \u00b0C to -10 \u00b0C;<\/p>\n

(d) Blood plasma freezers<\/h2>\n

Plasma storage freezers for the storage of already frozen plasma for transfusion in a set point temperature range of -45 \u00b0C to -30 \u00b0C;<\/p>\n

(e) Laboratory ultra-deep freezers<\/h2>\n

Ultra-low temperature freezers for the storage of frozen products for pharmaceutical and laboratory use in a set point temperature range of -90 \u00b0C to -20 \u00b0C;<\/p>\n

(f) cryogenic freezers<\/h2>\n

for the storage of frozen products at cryogenic temperatures in a set point temperature range from -150 \u00b0C to -90 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n
